PERSONAL REVIVAL IS JESUS

ARTICLE

“Revival is not some higher attainment, but simply taking our place as sinners and realizing anew that Jesus is all of our hope, all of our being.” (Roy Hession)

To be revived, we must be convinced we cannot play around with sin, nor pervert the character (Name) of Jesus. We must know Jesus is our all and in all and we are the righteousness of God in Him. Jesus, not ourselves, must be the center of all we do, the motive of all we do and the power by which we do it.

We must also get a vision of the value and mighty power of the blood of Jesus. With personal revival comes a fresh appreciation for what that blood has done for us and why Jesus’ precious blood is so powerful and availing for us; it is because of the infinite

value of Whose blood it is. This is why there is such a need to get a vision of the holy character and majesty of God. When we see

this, we will realize our unholy situation aside from Christ. This in turn will lead us to realize what an important role repentance has in our finding revival through Christ. Only in Christ

can we live in the light of God’s holy character and majesty. He is our light; He is our life.

So then, in revival, there is a receiving of life again; there is repentance and simple

returning to the Lord. At the moment we were saved, if we have truly been born again, we

surrendered everything to Jesus, our whole heart and life. Jesus became our Master, our Lord, our Savior. At salvation, we invited Jesus into our heart as our personal Lord and Savior. We knew Who He was; we knew He was Lord and we wanted Him to be our personal Lord. When we took Jesus as Savior, we also took Him as our Lord and Master. We knew He was Lord and we wanted Him to change us and make us the kind of person He wanted us to be. This may sound simplified, but then God intended it to be.

Just as we took Jesus as Lord when we got saved, we must now learn to walk in His Lordship. Just as we received Jesus as our Lord, so also do we commit to walk in Him. (Col. 3:10)

Also, with this simplicity, do we recognize that the totality of personal revival simply is Jesus. Jesus saved us; Jesus justified us (made us legally righteous and in right standing before God), positionally sanctified us in heaven (set us apart unto God), experientially presently sanctifies us on earth as we walk with Christ as Lord and does revive us, as needed. Then, one day soon, in our Savior, we will be taken home for all eternity. As His, we will be with Him forever and ever—His for eternity. Jesus is our Savior, our Sanctifier—our REVIVER. Jesus is “our all and in all” (Scrip. ref.) evermore.
