UNDERSTANDING HIS WAY
BIBLE STUDIES
Our Studies are organized according to the topics, or “ports,” which you will see on the Map. Each Study consists of a UHWM book or booklet with a Life Application Workbook and/or video.
Understanding His Way Ministry is totally supported by love offerings, gifts, and the small percentage we receive from the purchasing of our books.
Since we believe it is vital for you to directly read the Scriptures we refer to, our books and booklets do not just give you Scripture references, but include footnoted Scripture verses printed out in their entirety on the bottom of every page where they are discussed. This way you: 1) don’t
just have to assume a Scripture reference is truly applicable to the doctrinal statement being made, 2) are spared the arduous and time-
consuming task of looking up every reference, and 3) don’t attribute a teaching to simply the ideas and opinions of man.
Our Life Application Workbooks are not just fill-in-the-blank questions; they actually deepen and add to the teaching given in the books, because the questions themselves demonstrate application of the biblical principles in the books. The questions are worded in such a way as to help you see where and how the scriptural principles can work in your everyday life.
Because these Studies include Life Application Workbooks and/or videos, they require more commitment than simply reading the books alone. With this commitment, there is more depth and soundness of understanding. These Studies will help you experience a new
dimension of confidence in what you believe and why you believe it. There can be no price put on what cannot be shaken.
Our books are meant to support your study of God's Word by balancing seemingly contradictory verses together to help bring scriptural doctrinal balance. This hopefully will instill scriptural principles in you. This allows you to be who God has made you to be. Along with incorporating particular spiritual gifts and callings, God will provide you a life scripturally sound and full of joy. The balanced doctrinal principles gained from these Studies will help put you on a sound footing for any Bible study, equip you to share and teach others God’s Word, and undergird your Christian life.

THE BURDEN BEHIND UHWM BOOKS & STUDIES
The burden behind UHWM’s materials was birthed by my own experience as a young Christian who was overwhelmed and confused by unbalanced doctrine.
Immediately after being born again, I became disturbed over what so many church goers were describing as their “salvation experience.” I also was confused by the contradiction I saw between what some were calling their “salvation experience” and what they displayed in their walk. They looked like I looked before I was saved—only with religion added. Four burdens arose in my heart:
1. To scripturally clarify true salvation.
2. To present God in His true Character and Attributes.
3. To clearly describe how believers can have the Spirit-filled, victorious Christian life.
4. To study and pursue biblical balance pertaining to doctrine and subjective experience.
These burdens led me to systematically study biblical doctrines from various theological perspectives. I also witnessed how
these were being lived out. I saw
Bible verses being disregarded by denominations and doctrinal camps simply because they didn’t fit with their established beliefs. Warped and unbalanced doctrines were in the everyday lives of those who lived them.
This took me on a personal search for “Biblical Balance,” where every verse pertaining to a doctrine is considered. Every scripture is vital! This is the only way we can acquire a balanced understanding. As we let scripture interpret scripture and weigh seemingly opposed verses together, we can arrive at God's intended doctrinal meaning.
As the Lord led me through years of study and experiences in denomin-ational and nondenominational camps, I sorted through a labyrinth of doctrinal confusion and contradictions which were being taught. A burden grew to present doctrinally balanced materials in clear language, without theological jargon. This meant writing easily readable books on essential doctrinal truth, clear and balanced, but not watered down. I desired them to allow the reader to breathe and
have life, rather than be suffocated by wordy academia. They would present weighty truth but with lively practical life application. The hungry reader should not have to labor through pages of scholastic academia as I had to.
All truth out of balance is error, and error carried to ultimate extreme is heresy which the Bible tells us we must reject. Nevertheless, throughout church history, godly men have had non-heretical doctrinal differences within the boundaries of orthodox evangelical Christendom. For example, John Wesley, an Arminian, and George Whitfield, a Calvinist, were in opposing theological camps, yet each remained within the boundaries of orthodox evangelical Christendom. So, while biblical balance is vital, as long as one’s theology is within bounds of truth and one’s desire is for heart purity, we say, as did John Wesley, “If your heart be as mine, give me your hand.”
