WHY REVIVAL IS A NECESSARY
PREREQUISITE TO DOCTRINAL TEACHING?

For Christians, the way to maturity and Christian growth is not first being grounded in
the Word and then having revival, but being revived then being grounded in the Word! Personal revival is essential, before doctrine will come alive.
Throughout 45 years of ministry, I’ve become convinced that scriptural grounding
will only truly be effective when our heart cries out for revival. Then, in turn, revival will cause our heart to cry out for more grounding in God’s Word.
Without revival, there will be no real hunger for God’s Word. Trying to ground those who are not revived will only produce lifeless head knowledge and legalism—top heavy, mental religion.
